The family took bets on how his DNA test would turn out – we thought Beagle and JRT, but turns out he’s mainly Beagle, but also chihuahua, Australian cattle dog, basset hound, chow chow, and 5% supermutt?!

Can your pet read your emotions?     Yes, he knows when it’s time for a serious zoom meeting and I need to concentrate.

Funniest moment you’ve had with your pet:     He is fast – loves to run outside, but also regularly gets the 6 p.m. zoomies (need to stay clear of the path for a few minutes), and then plops down right afterwards for a rest!

What is the most rewarding aspect of owning your pet?   He loves to be around people, especially the kids when they are home for a visit from Boston and NYC. They regularly ask for Barley “Snaps” to see how he is doing.

Describe your pet in three words: He’s so EXTRA!

What is the thing your pet cannot live without? Walks

Can your pet do tricks? If so, what? We do a lot of walking off leash. When he sees someone he lays down until he gets his leash attached. He taught himself this which is awesome because of his size.

What is the best trick your pet has taught you? Enjoy the moment.

Do you have a nickname for your pet? Nope, just Captain (maybe a few other choice names).

You know your pet is in a good mood when he/she does this: He’s ALWAYS in a good mood. It can be kind of annoying first thing in the morning.

Favorite toy: Anything he can chew. Sticks, bones, ball, rocks, his leash. It’s pretty amazing actually.

Funniest moment you’ve had with your pet: We were outside on the deck and he tried to take this one bone outside multiple times. He knows he can’t take it out. He comes sneaking up to the door, head down, bone in his mouth (like a cigar). I say “no” and take the bone out of his mouth. A few minutes later he tries again. I say “no” and take the bone out of his mouth. It’s funny to watch a 160 lb. dog try to sneak.

What is the most rewarding aspect of owning your pet? It doesn’t matter my day. He’s always happy and in the moment. It’s a nice (and sometimes annoying) reminder.
