As a married mother of a young son, Bethlehem resident and early childhood major, Maria Sol, manages being a mom with fulltime work and fulltime study at NCC.  “It is not an easy task,” she says, but adds that she is gladly able to combine all these responsibilities.   

She chose her major because she is passionate about working with young children, and she feels that NCC gives her what she needs to do her best. 

Sol also values NCC’s diversity.  “NCC provides excellent opportunities for students who come from diverse backgrounds like my family and me.”  Her family is bilingual. 

An artistic person, she enjoys drawing, dancing and reading. 

Her goal is to become a lead kindergarten teacher.

Myra Saturen has been a writer for organizations for thirty years, including 14 for NCC. She has a bachelor's degree in English from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Binghamton and a master's degree in social work from Columbia University. In addition to writing for organizations, she has written for a variety of magazines and has had two young adult novels published. She also works as a writing tutor in NCC's Learning Center. She is a native New Yorker who has lived in Bethlehem Township for thirty-one years. She is married with two adult children. Her hobbies are reading, yoga and exercise.
