With mental health awareness at the forefront of college campuses, NCC Monroe students teamed up with Children’s Roundtable of Monroe County and the Pocono Mountain Visitors Bureau to create a series of public service announcements, raising awareness for mental health and resources available in the region.
The project was a collaboration between members of the NCC Monroe Film Society, Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society (PTK) and the Active Minds student organization and highlighted topics including substance abuse, suicide prevention, and mental health as well as invisible disabilities such as ADHD, Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Dyslexia.
The students and clubs involved in the project won a Prism Award at NCC’s recent Student Leadership Awards ceremony, honoring their commitment to advancing diversity and for positively impacting the surrounding community.
