As COVID-19 and modern tech advancements have changed the way we work, many large companies are putting money towards helping their employees get the education they need to develop in the workplace. Amazon’s Career Choice program kicked off in January 2022. Through the program, the company added a partnership with Northampton Community College (NCC) to provide a cost-free college education to its hourly employees who have been with the company for at least three months.
NCC was chosen as a partner school based on the high level of understanding of the adult learner, which many of the Amazon employees are. NCC’s expansive support services for their non-traditional students, from selecting the right program to getting academic help to ultimately achieving career placement, made NCC a strong partner school.
“We’ve been looking at who are those partners that can really help us achieve better outcomes for our associates—and by outcomes we mean not just course completion, but how do we help them take the next step in their career and land that next job based on the education and skills they’ve learned,” Tammy Thieman, global lead of the Career Choice Program, tells Fortune, in a recent article cited below.
