Dental Assisting Program

This 10-week program (200 hours total) is designed to prepare the student to practice basic dental assisting skills with emphasis placed on areas of chairside assisting and laboratory techniques. Total patient care is stressed along with a professional work ethic. The goal of this program is to educate a dental auxiliary who is ethically, morally and legally responsible, clinically competent, and facilitates quality care in a safe manner. This dental assisting program will utilize current theory, technology and, with the assistance of local dental professionals, ensure graduates have the knowledge, skills and attitudes to be successful in the dental field.

 

Prerequisite: Students must be 18 years of age or older to attend, possess a High School diploma or GED. In order to participate in Dental Assisting, participants must complete the following requirements: Criminal Background check, FBI Clearance which includes fingerprinting, PA Child Abuse Clearance, Immunizations/titers and TB Testing, Health History Form along with completion of the required forms as outlined in the Dental Assisting Program Requirements Checklist and Forms packet (PDF). All Requirements are due & MANDATORY student ORIENTATION will be held Wed., MAY 31, 6 pm at Fowler Center. All associated costs are the responsibility of the student. Additional fees for enrollment requirements (approximately $500) are the responsibility of the student. PROGRAM RUNS: June 5-August 10 (M-T-W-TH), 9am-3pm @ Fowler Center.
